About
Commercial Data Servers
Commercial Data Servers AS (CDS) is a Norwegian IT company which for a number of years has supplied IT infrastructure to private and public enterprises. For almost 50 years, CDS has focused on offering expertise and cost-effective solutions to customers who are responsible for operating business-critical infrastructure.
The story of CDS began in 1972 when the American manufacturer of large computers (mainframes), Amdahl, established itself in Norway. In the year 2000, Amdahl Corporation was sold to the Japanese company Fujitsu and then Amdahl's subsidiary organizations were wound up in most countries in Europe - including Norway. CDS took over the expertise and customer obligations from the Norwegian subsidiary to build a Norwegian competence center for business-critical data processing.
As CDS had roots in the mainframe environment, in 2000 we also became an IBM Business partner on System Z and IBM System Storage.
CDS also has extensive experience with automated operation clients, endpoints. With the help of HP Radia and later IBM/HCL BigFix has managed thousands of endpoints and assisted our customers in getting a good overview, control and security on all servers, PC clients and mobile devices. With the help of cost-effective tools, we can distribute patches, software packages and OS images to thousands of potential endpoints in a simple and secure way.
CDS has supplied SUN/Oracle products and solutions since 1997. We are an Oracle Gold partner and supply all types of Oracle products, from storage to application - and everything is certified for coexistence. CDS has specialists in Ops Center and virtualization of Solaris instances.
